TEAM NEWS

England coach Fabio Capello has to decide whether to stick with Matthew Upson at centre-back or restore Ledley King or Jamie Carragher to the starting XI.

King is now fit after a groin injury and Carragher is back from suspension. Wayne Rooney has recovered from the ankle knock he sustained against Slovenia.

Germany striker Cacau has been ruled out with a stomach muscle injury so Miroslav Klose, who is available again after suspension, will come back into the side.

Coach Joachim Loew has concerns over key midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger following the hamstring strain he picked up against Ghana. Jerome Boateng is troubled by a calf strain and could be replaced by Holger Badstuber or Marcell Jansen.

MATCH PREVIEW
Nigeria may have lost their first two games, but the Super Eagles can still qualify for the last 16 if they beat South Korea and the Greeks lose to Argentina. If it had not been for a moment of stupidity from Sani Kaita, their fate could still be in their own hands. The Nigerians looked in control against Greece on Tuesday until Kaita needlessly kicked out at Vasileios Torosidis, earning a red card.

He later apologised to "the Nigerian people, my team-mates and to the officials", but has received threatening emails following the incident. Kaita's team-mates have rallied round him, and if the Super Eagles reach the last 16 the midfielder's transgression will quickly be forgotten.

South Korea impressed in their opening win against the Greeks but were unable to contain Argentina at Soccer City. However, they still look the favourites to claim second spot in Group B. If the Argentines beat Greece, Huh Jung-moo's men will only need a point to qualify. He does not want his side to play for the draw, but admits "we will not go forward by opening the back door".

MATCH PREVIEW
Hosts South Africa face a French side in disarray on Tuesday with both countries needing a miracle to keep their World Cup hopes alive. A draw between Mexico and Uruguay in their final Group A match would see both Latin American sides progress. A winner in that match would open the door for South Africa and France, although it would take a minimum swing of four goals for France to progress and five goals for the hosts to sneak into the last 16.

France's World Cup has been an utter shambles. Rumours of in-fighting between players and staff were confirmed when Nicolas Anelka was sent home in disgrace for insulting coach Raymond Domenech. The French camp then descended into chaos on Sunday when the squad refused to train in protest at the Chelsea striker's expulsion, swiftly followed by the resignation of French Football Federation managing director Jean-Louis Valentin. On the pitch, a listless draw against Uruguay was followed by defeat to Mexico, and Domenech will need to do something drastic to reverse his side's fortunes.

South Africa are aiming to avoid becoming the first World Cup hosts to fail to qualify for the second round. A promising start in their opening 1-1 draw with Mexico was short-lived and a 3-0 defeat by Uruguay exposed Bafana Bafana's obvious limitations. Defender Matthew Booth lamented the squad's lack of quality this week, and their limited resources will be stretched further with the absence of suspended keeper Itumeleg Khune and Fulham midfielder Kagisho Dikgacoi.
